Activity Center

The Children's Hospital Activity Center is located near the 6 East Nurses' Station and Room 658. The center is open daily from 9:00am until 8:00pm. You can check the bulletin board located outside the Center or your nurse regarding daily activities.

Computer Usage
A password is necessary to access Child Life computers (In the Activity Center or bedside). Please see Child Life Staff/Volunteers or your child's nurse to gain access.
To continue you or your child's computer privileges, we ask that you do not:

  • Download anything from the Internet (or other sources) on the hospital computers.
  • Do not change any of the settings of the computers.
  • Due to the limited number of computers and patient demand, time limits may be set so others have the opportunity to use the computer.

Activity Center Rules

  • No medical procedures are allowed in the Activity Center.
  • The Center is only for Children's Hospital patients, their families, and visitors.
  • Visiting children MUST be accompanied by an adult family member at all times.
  • Visitors must wash their hands before touching toys.
  • When visiting a patient in isolation, visiting children must take toys to the patient room and not play in the Activity Center.
  • Some types of isolation patients can visit the activity center after special arrangements are made with the Child Life specialist.
  • Toys may be taken to the patient's room if an adult family member is unable to stay with a visiting child.
  • Please pick up toys and equipment before leaving the Center.Borrowed toys, movies, games and wagons must be cleaned between patient use and be returned to a special place for cleaning. Please ask the Child Life staff or your nurse if you have any questions.
  • Only "Kid Friendly" TV/movie programming is permitted in the Activity Center. PLEASE, no soap operas, adult-themed shows, or talk shows.
  • Please no food or drink in the Activity Center except for special Child Life activities.
  • Please do not use the Activity Center as a waiting room. Please use the designated waiting rooms.
